Lojing Highlands REDD+ Forest Conservation Project

Overview

The Lojing Highlands REDD+ Forest Conservation Project is a high-integrity nature-based climate initiative located within the ecologically significant highland forests of Lojing, Kelantan, Malaysia. The project aims to conserve 1,089.11 hectares of natural tropical forest by preventing deforestation and forest degradation while protecting biodiversity, maintaining critical watershed functions, and supporting long-term climate resilience.

Developed under the REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) framework, the project applies internationally recognised carbon accounting principles and robust Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) systems to quantify and safeguard forest carbon stocks. Through long-term forest protection and sustainable management, the project seeks to generate high-integrity carbon credits while delivering measurable environmental and social co-benefits.
